Waste Officer

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a passionate and capable Waste Officer to join our Waste Services Section.

While this is an established role, the Waste Services Section has recently undergone a review and received additional resources, creating a strengthened and growing team focused on delivering innovative, sustainable and customer-focused waste services for our community. This is an excellent time to join a team with a clear vision, growing capability and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

As Waste Officer, you'll provide specialist advice and support across a broad range of waste management programs and initiatives. From environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance to strategic planning, project delivery, policy development and community engagement, you will help ensure the City's waste services operate safely, sustainably and efficiently.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, government agencies and the community, you'll contribute to projects and programs that support waste avoidance, resource recovery, environmental sustainability and the long-term success of our waste services operations.

About you

If you are a motivated environmental professional looking to make a positive impact in waste management and sustainability, we'd love to hear from you!

You will possess qualifications in environmental management, environmental science, environmental engineering or a related discipline, together with experience in project delivery, contract management and operational support.

You will be confident interpreting legislation, analysing data, preparing reports and working with a diverse range of stakeholders. Most importantly, you will be a collaborative and solutions-focused professional who enjoys driving continuous improvement, supporting compliance outcomes and delivering meaningful environmental benefits for the community.

What's on offer?

  • Competitive salary from around $103K - $106.5K, depending on your capabilities and experience + 12% superannuation
